The King George IV Inn is located at 32 George Street just a block away from the famous King Street shopping and design area and just a minute from The College of Charleston and Calhoun Street. The Inn was built circa 1792 as a private residence in which a prominent ship and business owner, journalist and politician Peter Freneau, once lived. The four-storied building boasts triple porches and maintains its 18th century ambiance with a tasteful blend of antique furniture and select reproductions.
Many of the guestrooms in King George IV Inn are individually appointed with 11' ceilings, and richly treated 7' windows. All rooms have wide plank hardwood floors, oriental rugs and queen-size beds. A few rooms have kitchenettes. If available, rooms with a shared or private porch may also be requested where evenings can be enjoyed as a light breeze cools the steam of the Charleston days as one prepares and plans for night-time adventures. The forth floor rooms, offering separate rooms and a shared bath are ideal for a weekend gathering of friends or family allowing for complete privacy from the rest of the guests.
